ТНТ Экспресс" является международной компанией, предоставляющей курьерские услуги. Она является дочерней компанией FedEx с головным офисом в Хоофддорпе (Hoofddorp), Нидерланды.
26 мая 2011 года компания "ТНТ Экспресс" отделилась от материнской компании "ТНТ НВ", получив листинг на бирже Euronext Amsterdam. Впоследствии компания "TNT NV" переименовала себя в PostNL.
В марте 2012 года UPS объявила о своем намерении приобрести TNT Express за 6,7 миллиарда долларов. Однако сделка провалилась в январе 2013 года, после того как было объявлено, что UPS не получила разрешения от Еврокомиссии и, как следствие, была заблокирована на конкурсной основе.
В апреле 2015 года FedEx объявила о своем намерении купить "ТНТ Экспресс" за 4,4 млрд. евро, так как планировала расширить свою деятельность в Европе. Европейская комиссия начала дальнейшее расследование планируемого приобретения. 8 января 2016 года Европейская Комиссия одобрила сделку, и она была завершена 25 мая 2016 года.
В августе 2017 года компания "ТНТ Экспресс" сильно пострадала от кибератаки "НотПетя", отчасти из-за того, что некоторые операционные и коммуникационные системы базируются в Украине, где зародилась кибератака. TNT Express" вынужден был работать с использованием ручных процессов в течение значительного периода времени, создавая очень большие объемы нерассмотренных дел. Некоторые записи были полностью утеряны.
