ONE Ocean Network Express - información sobre la compañía

Ocean Network Express (ONE), es una empresa japonesa de transporte marítimo de contenedores que tiene sus oficinas centrales en Singapur y Tokio. Se constituyó en 2016 como una empresa conjunta de las compañías navieras japonesas Nippon Yusen Kaisha, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines y K-Line, heredando las operaciones de transporte marítimo de contenedores de sus empresas matrices. En 2017, tenía una flota combinada de 1,4 millones de TEU.

ONE se fundó en 2016 como empresa conjunta entre Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) y K-Line. Se formó como parte de un proceso más amplio de consolidación que estaba teniendo lugar en la industria del transporte marítimo de contenedores en ese momento, afectada por las escasas ganancias y el exceso de capacidad. Fusionó las divisiones de transporte marítimo de contenedores de las tres empresas, formando la sexta empresa de transporte marítimo de contenedores más grande del mundo en ese momento.

NYK controla un 38% de la empresa conjunta, mientras que MOL y K-Line poseen el 31% cada una. La empresa comenzó a operar en abril de 2018, con una oficina del holding en Tokio, una sede mundial en Singapur y sedes regionales en Londres (Canary Wharf), Richmond, Hong Kong y Sao Paulo, y otras oficinas locales en 90 países, con actividades corporativas y de ventas, ya iniciadas en octubre de 2017. En agosto de 2018, ONE encargó más de 14.000 contenedores refrigerados.

En diciembre de 2018, ONE y PSA International firmaron un acuerdo para formar una empresa conjunta en la terminal de Pasir Panjang en Singapur para realizar operaciones de contenedores en la terminal, a partir del primer semestre de 2019.

ONE decidió pintar todos sus barcos y equipos de contenedores recién lanzados en un reconocible y llamativo color magenta. La idea del tono magenta se inspiró en las flores de cerezo comunes en Japón, donde se encuentran las tres compañías matrices.
