Air France Cargo - informazioni sul corriere

Air France-KLM S.A., nota anche come Gruppo Air France-KLM, è una holding franco-olandese di diritto francese con sede all'aeroporto Charles de Gaulle di Tremblay-en-France, vicino a Parigi. Il gruppo ha uffici a Montreuil, Seine-Saint-Denis, Parigi, e ad Amstelveen, Paesi Bassi. Air France-KLM è il risultato della fusione del 2004 tra Air France e KLM. Sia Air France che KLM sono membri dell'alleanza di compagnie aeree SkyTeam. Le omonime compagnie aeree della compagnia si affidano a due importanti hubs, rispettivamente l'aeroporto di Parigi-Charles de Gaulle e l'aeroporto di Amsterdam Schiphol. Air France-KLM Airlines ha trasportato 87,3 milioni di passeggeri nel 2014.

Il 5 maggio 2004, Air France-KLM è stata creata dalla fusione concordata tra Air France e KLM, con sede nei Paesi Bassi. A seguito dell'operazione, la quota di partecipazione del governo francese in Air France è stata ridotta dal 54,4% (della precedente Air France) al 44% (della compagnia aerea combinata). La sua quota è stata successivamente ridotta al 25% e successivamente al 17,6%. Al momento della fusione, nel maggio 2004, Air France e KLM insieme offrivano voli verso 225 destinazioni nel mondo. Nell'anno conclusosi il 21 marzo 2003, le due compagnie insieme hanno trasportato 66,3 milioni di passeggeri.

Nell'ottobre 2005, Air France Cargo e KLM Cargo, le due controllate di Air France Cargo del gruppo, hanno unito le loro attività commerciali. Il Joint Cargo Management Team gestisce ora l'organizzazione in tutto il mondo dai Paesi Bassi.

In un'apertura del 2007 per l'acquisizione della maggioranza di Alitalia che ha generato perdite, Air France-KLM è stato uno dei tre offerenti ed è stato favorito dal consiglio di amministrazione di Alitalia. Tuttavia, il 2 aprile 2008, è stato comunicato che le trattative sono state abbandonate. Dopo l'acquisizione di Alitalia e Air One da parte di Compagnia Aerea Italiana, avvenuta il 12 dicembre 2008, Air France-KLM è stata nuovamente interessata ad acquistare una partecipazione nella nuova società incorporata. Il 12 gennaio 2009, Air France-KLM ha acquistato una quota del 25% della società per 323 milioni di euro.

Nel 2008 è stata la più grande compagnia aerea al mondo in termini di ricavi operativi totali, e anche la più grande al mondo in termini di passeggeri-chilometri internazionali.

Air France-KLM, insieme al suo partner Delta Air Lines, era in trattative per investire con Japan Airlines, che fa parte dell'alleanza Oneworld (rivale di SkyTeam), ma aveva problemi finanziari. Air France-KLM, insieme a Delta e alla rivale di Delta, American Airlines (AMR Corporation, parte di Oneworld), hanno discusso di investimenti di 200-300 milioni di dollari per aiutare il vettore in difficoltà finanziarie, che è la più grande compagnia aerea asiatica per entrate. Il Ministero del Territorio, delle Infrastrutture, dei Trasporti e del Turismo del Giappone aveva raccomandato Air France-KLM e/o Delta come partner per il loro "sano" status finanziario, rispetto ad AMR Corporation. Delta è stata raccomandata anche per la sua vasta rete asiatica, acquisita attraverso l'acquisizione di Northwest Airlines. Anche Korean Air, anch'essa membro di SkyTeam, era in trattative con JAL. Air France, Alitalia, China Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Korean Air e Vietnam Airlines sono membri SkyTeam che attualmente hanno il code-sharing con JAL. Il 7 febbraio 2010 diversi notiziari hanno riferito che JAL ha deciso di mantenere l'alleanza con American Airlines e di porre fine ai colloqui con Delta. Secondo quanto riferito, il nuovo CEO di JAL, Inamori, e i funzionari di ETIC hanno deciso che cambiare alleanza (da Oneworld a SkyTeam) sarebbe stato troppo rischioso e avrebbe potuto ostacolare la capacità di JAL di cambiare rapidamente la compagnia aerea. Il 9 febbraio 2010 JAL ha annunciato ufficialmente la decisione di rafforzare la sua partnership con American, che includeva l'applicazione congiunta dell'approvazione dell'immunità antitrust sulle rotte transpacifiche. La compagnia aerea ha inoltre pianificato di rafforzare il suo rapporto con gli altri partner dell'alleanza Oneworld.

A febbraio 2011, Air France-KLM e Delta Air Lines stavano lavorando insieme per esaminare un'offerta per Virgin Atlantic, dato che Richard Branson aveva una quota del 51% e il resto è detenuto da Delta.

Nell'agosto 2011, Air France-KLM è stata classificata come una delle 10 compagnie aeree più sicure al mondo.

Nel dicembre 2013, Air France-KLM ha venduto la sua controllata CityJet a Intro Aviation.

All'inizio di aprile 2016, Alexandre de Juniac, Presidente e CEO dal 1° luglio 2013, ha rassegnato le dimissioni ed è stato sostituito da Jean-Marc Janaillac il 4 luglio 2016.

Nel gennaio 2018, davanti al Senato francese, Jean-Marc Janaillac ha registrato per il 2017 un aumento dei ricavi dovuto a un crescente utilizzo della flotta e a una crescita più rapida a venire, e un utile operativo migliore con il 6% per il gruppo (Air France 4%, KLM 9%), ma in ritardo rispetto al 9% di Lufthansa e al 10-12% di British Airways, mentre deplorava la gestione dei bagagli di Paris-Charles de Gaulle e l'attesa per la sicurezza delle code, ostacolando le coincidenze e anticipando un difficile 2018 con l'aumento dei prezzi del jet fuel e la concomitanza di vettori del Golfo, Turkish Airlines, compagnie aeree cinesi e asiatiche e vettori low-cost, easyJet, Volotea, Ryanair o a lungo raggio.

Alla fine del 2018 Air France-KLM sceglierà la sua flotta sostitutiva di medio raggio per Air France, HOP!, KLM e Transavia, operando 120 Boeing 737 NG, 118 Airbus A320ceo, 64 Embraer E-Jets, 25 Bombardier serie CRJ700 e 13 Embraer 145. Dopo aver rinnovato la sua flotta a lungo raggio con il 787 Dreamliner e l'A350 XWB a partire dal 2019, le specifiche saranno rilasciate nel primo trimestre, cercando proposte da Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier Aerospace e Embraer, puntando a ridurre il rumore degli aerei e l'utilizzo di biocarburanti.
