Ethiopian Airlines Cargo - informations sur le transporteur

Ethiopian Airlines, anciennement Ethiopian Air Lines (EAL) et souvent appelée simplement Ethiopian, est le transporteur national de l'Ethiopie et est entièrement détenue par le gouvernement du pays. EAL a été fondée le 21 décembre 1945 et a commencé ses opérations le 8 avril 1946, pour s'étendre aux vols internationaux en 1951. L'entreprise est devenue une société par actions en 1965 et a changé son nom d'Ethiopian Air Lines à Ethiopian Airlines. La compagnie aérienne est membre de l'Association internationale du transport aérien depuis 1959 et de l'Association des compagnies aériennes africaines (AFRAA) depuis 1968. Ethiopian est membre de Star Alliance, qu'elle a rejoint en décembre 2011. Son hub et son siège sont situés à l'aéroport international de Bole à Addis-Abeba, d'où elle dessert un réseau de 125 destinations passagers - dont 20 domestiques - et 44 destinations cargo.

La compagnie aérienne dispose de hubs secondaires au Togo et au Malawi. Ethiopian est la plus grande compagnie aérienne d'Afrique en termes de passagers transportés, de destinations desservies, de taille de la flotte et de revenus. Ethiopian est également la 4e compagnie aérienne au monde par le nombre de pays desservis. Ethiopien, utilise actuellement les systèmes d'information les plus récents ; ainsi, l'ensemble du processus commercial de fret est automatisé grâce à l'un des meilleurs systèmes informatiques de fret (Cargo Spot, Champ) dans le but de fournir des services de fret aérien efficaces à l'intérieur, à destination et en provenance de l'Afrique. Cargo Services utilise les dernières technologies en matière de données, d'informations et de renseignements commerciaux, avec un taux de pénétration de l'e-AWB de 100 % à partir de son principal hub d'Addis-Abeba et de 62,7 % pour l'e-AWB internationale, alors que la moyenne du secteur est de 68,0 % selon le rapport de l'IATA sur la pénétration de l'e-AWB de décembre 2018. Cette initiative s'inscrit dans le cadre des efforts déployés par la compagnie aérienne pour devenir une industrie sans papier en adoptant les systèmes et les technologies les plus récents dans le domaine de l'aviation. Dans la feuille de route stratégique d'Ethiopian - Vision 2025, Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services envisage de devenir un centre de profit à part entière avec un chiffre d'affaires annuel de 2 milliards de dollars, 19 avions dédiés, un tonnage annuel de 820 000 et 57 destinations internationales.
