Aramex Global Solutions - information about carrier
Aramex is a global express, mail shipment and logistics services business, based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The business was founded by Fadi Ghandour and Bill Kingston in 1982. It is the first Arab-based company to be noted on the NASDAQ stock market. Bashar Obeid serves as the company's CEO. Aramex has roughly 13,800 staff members in 54 countries and a network consisting of 40 independent express companies.
Fadi Ghandour co-founded Aramex soon after getting his BA in government from George Washington University, with his organisation partner, Bill Kingson in 1982. Kingson, a buddy of Ghandour's daddy and owner of a little courier business in the New York location, talked about the business with Fadi Ghandour after he had actually revealed interest in the company. After their conversation, Kingson proposed a partnership to develop a carrier business in the Middle East with Ghandour.
The business began operations in Amman, Jordan. Arab American Express aimed to become the first carrier business in the Middle East. Within 2 years, the company's name was shortened to Aramex.
In 1984, the company's operations were less than $1 million in revenue. Aramex provided Airborne Express 50% ownership of the business for $100,000, that year. Aramex moved its headquarters to Dubai, United Arab Emirates in 1985.
During summer season 2001, Abraaj Capital, the first personal equity company in the Middle East, proposed Aramex a leveraged buyout deal that would take the company off of the NASDAQ stock exchange. The offer was accepted and Abraaj Capital acquired the majority of Aramex for $65 million in February 2002. Abraaj obtained 75% of Aramex and made 6% of its shares readily available to business staff members in the type of stock.
In 2003, DHL acquired Airborne Express, Aramex's main United States partner. This resulted in Airborne Express leaving the Airborne Alliance. In the same year, Aramex took control of the alliance and co-founded the Global Distribution Alliance (GDA), an international alliance of 40 reveal business with combined revenues of $7.5 billion. Aramex is chairing the alliance which uses a shipment management system developed by the company.
As part of its growth strategies, Aramex concluded a series of acquisitions, including Priority Airfreight, InfoFort, Freight Professionals and TwoWay-Vanguard.
Aramex developed REDe, a service aimed at making it possible for business to begin offering their items online, in early 2012. Aramex introduced Aramex Bio, a medical courier service in March 2014. In 2019, Aramex got Saudi Tal for Commerce and Contract Company to broaden its operations in Saudi Arabia.
