How fast does Japan Post deliver?
Japan Post is the only postal service to offer a delivery guarantee of next-day by noon for all types and weights of packages. Delivery times are determined based on where you live, what type of service you select (surface mail or airmail), and whether your destination country has international agreements with Japan that provide special customs clearance procedures (e.g. Singapore).
The fastest delivery time for international packages is an average of five to eight days worldwide, but this may vary from two to ten weeks depending on the destination country and customs clearance procedures required. The general rule in shipping internationally is that speed equals cost, with faster rates generally costing more money than slower ones. This holds when shipping to Japan, as well.
The fastest surface mail delivery time is an average of two weeks domestically and five-eight days internationally (or one week for most destinations, including the US). Express Mail Service deliveries are guaranteed within three business days in both countries. Priority Airmail shipments from Japan can be received in about six to ten business days.
In contrast, the slowest delivery times are Priority Mail International parcels which take about two to three weeks domestically and up to eight weeks internationally. The slower rates for worldwide airmail shipments average ten-twelve days but can be as long as twenty-four or thirty days depending on customs clearance procedures required by your destination country.
You can estimate the approximate transit time of your package by consulting Japan Post's website.
How long does Japan Post take to deliver to the US?
It all depends on the weight and size of your package, as well as where you're sending it in America. Most items have insurance that protects them up to USD 200 by default when they are shipped internationally with Japan Post, though there may be exceptions depending on what is being sent or who is receiving it.
Japan Post offers a tracking service which is great for international shipping. You can track your package by entering the number on their website and see where it’s located in real-time, as well as when it was last updated. Japan post emails you updates so that you know exactly what's going with your shipment at all times.

About Japan Post
Japan Post is the world's largest mail-delivery service, in terms of international letters. It has about 180,000 employees delivering over 20 million items every day to 220 countries with a workforce spanning 800 years - from 1871 until 2050!
Japan Post has a long and honored history, spanning eight centuries of service to Japan and other countries around the world. The postal tradition in Japan can be traced as far back as 770 AD when mounted messengers known as Tsuruchikibegan delivering messages written on strips of wood called Ojima-gaki from one post office to another. This practice evolved into what we now know today as "Takachiho", or simply “the courier” — a system that delivered messages across distances by horseback, boat, or foot throughout ancient times until 1871 when it was finally retired.
In 1872, with the introduction of Western-style mail systems such Japanese post offices began using stamps.
The world's first adhesive postage stamp was issued in Japan and featured their new Emperor, Meiji. The Japanese post service is still known for its reliability today.
Japan Post currently operates an extensive network across four continents including Asia (East), North America (West), Europe (Central), and Oceania (South). With more than 120 offices around the globe, it delivers letters to nearly everywhere on Earth except Antarctica. From earthquakes to tsunamis: nothing can stop us from getting our mail delivered safely through virtually any challenge Mother Nature throws at us - or even outer space!
