Bulgaria Post - information about carrier
The Bulgarian Posts (Български пощи, Balgarski poshti) are the nationwide postal service of Bulgaria. Bulgarian Posts PLC is handled by a Board of Directors consisting of 3 members and selected by the Minister of Transportation, Infotech and Communication.
The company was founded after the Liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman guideline, as the Russians handed all the post and telegraph workplaces to the newly restored Bulgarian state on 14 May 1879. In 1879 Bulgaria became a member of the Universal Postal Union.
In 1881 a Provisional Statute of the Posts and Telegraphs was approved, according to which the Postal and Telegraph Administration in the Principality of Bulgaria was the monopoly of the federal government. The document analyzed in detail the organizational structure of the Posts and Telegraphs, their functions and the requirements as to their employees.
Within a period of twenty years 1888-- 1908 the variety of offices tripled. All Administrations were establishing at a quick speed.
In 1908 the postal auto service was produced.
In 1927 airmail was introduced, and it began to compete effectively with the telegraph. A contract for the conveyance of airmail was concluded with the airline company "CIDNA", nowadays known as Air France.
In 1932 tram post was organized in Sofia.
In 1975 postal codes were introduced in Bulgaria-- a shortened digital address of settlements.
In 1992 after the split of Bulgarian Posts and Telecommunications Plc, two companies were established-- Bulgarian Posts Plc and Bulgarian Telecommunications Company Plc
. In 1993 PostEurop, The Association of European Public Postal Operators was established, and Bulgarian Posts became a member.
In 1997 Bulgarian Posts Plc was changed into a joint-stock business with more than 50 percent state involvement in the capital. In accordance with an amendment to the Privatization and Post-privatization Control Act, Bulgarian Posts Plc was consisted of in the expensive list for the privatization of business with more than 50 percent state involvement in the capital (Bulgarian Posts Plc is a company with 100% state participation in the capital).
In 2016 Bulgarian Posts' network consisted of 2981 post offices, which cover even the most remote places in the country.
Having in mind the liberalized postal market and the extreme competition, Bulgarian Posts Plc is progressively searching for new market niches, extending its product portfolio, diversifying its activity in response to the growing consumer requirements, enhancing the technologies used to support its competitiveness and success.
