Croatian Post was founded as an independent joint-stock company on 1 January 1999 after splitting of the public business HPT-Hrvatska pošta i telekomunikacije (HPT Croatian Post and Telecommunications) into two joint-stock companies: one for the company area of postal services (Croatian Post) and the other for the company location of telecoms (Croatian Telecommunication). Today's service activities of Croatian Post are the extension of the custom and continuity of postal service in Croatia.

Croatian Post is organized in 4 departments. Postal Service Division is in charge of transport, arranging and delivery of mail. Network Division manages the network of post offices.
