Hellenic Post (ELTA) is a group of companies offering contemporary premium postal services at budget-friendly costs in Greece.

It was founded in 1828, almost simultaneously with the foundation of the Greek State, through a presidential decree released by Ioannis Kapodistrias. Because 1996 it runs as a Société Anonyme ("ELTA S.A.").

ELTA Group makes up ELTA S.A. and its affiliated business: ELTA Courier S.A. and KEK ELTA S.A

. The company's stakeholders are the Greek State, which holds 90% of its share capital, and EFG Eurobank Ergasias S.A. (Eurobank) which holds 10%.

ELTA provides postal services, financial, bancassurance services, retail items and carrier services.

According to the "Postal Services, Electronic Communications and Other Provisions" Law, Hellenic Post is the designated Universal Service Provider and undertakes the commitment of offering universal services up until the 31st of December, 2028.

The arrangement of universal services specifies the nature of ELTA regarding its position and function in the operation of the postal market in the sense of the commitment towards the State for the arrangement of universal services of acceptable quality at inexpensive costs for all residents.
