Slovenská pošta, a. s. (actually Slovak Post) is a state-owned business accountable for supplying postal service in Slovakia established on 1 January 1993 when Slovakia became an independent state.
The improvement of Slovenská pošta from a state-owned enterprise into a public limited business completely managed by the State on October 1, 2004, paved the method for the company to become a financially independent and competitive entity. Slovenská pošta has been economically independent since it was established, i.e. it does not receive any aids from the State spending plan.
